Pickup Truck Slams Into 18 Wheeler, GOODRICH, November 25, 2009 - At approximately 6:25 pm on November 24, 2009, tan Ford F-350 driven by Terry Barringer, 19, of Livingston was north-bound on US-59 in Goodrich when a tractor trailer driven by Girgor Julfayan, 53, of Glendale, California attempted to pull out of the parking lot of Chevron and pulled directly in front of Barringer. Barringer's truck slammed into rear side of Julfayan's 18 wheeler and came to rest in the middle of the north-bound lanes of 59. The collision literally tore the back of the 18 wheeler's trailer off who managed to pull his vehicle over to the shoulder of the south-bound side of 59. Barringer's truck was totaled. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, 2 Sheriff's Deputies, and DPS Troopers Brent Henry and Donny Akers. Barringer was loaded into an ambulance and transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Debris littered both north-bound lanes of 59 and traffic was diverted through the parking lot of Lone Star Charlie's Restaurant. Julfayan's truck was transporting plywood for 999 Transport out of Hollywood, California. Fortunately for Barringer, he had a heavy duty farm bumper on the front of his truck. Several emergency responders stated that had it not been for the bumper, it would've been much worse. A rollback wrecker from Fawbush Body Shop recovered Barringer's vehicle and it will be stored at Fawbush (next door to Lone Star Charlie's). Julfayans vehicle was being sent for and remained on the side of US-59 for awhile. According to Trooper Henry, Julfayan was issued a citation for failure to yield right-of-way from a private drive. Both parties had insurance. The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing to 7:30 pm.
