Six Hospitalized in Major Accident, SEVEN OAKS, November 16, 2009 - At approximately 8:46 pm on November 15, 2009, a maroon 1997 Chevy pickup driven by Earnest Adams, 56, of Corrigan, attempted to pull out of the Exxon parking lot in Seven Oaks when he failed to yield right-of-way to a red 1995 Chevy Astro driven by Olga Guajardo, 52, of Nacogdoches. Guajardo's vehicle slammed broadside into the Adams' truck. The truck came to rest in the in the median that separates the north-bound lanes from the south-bound lanes while Guajardo's vehicle came to rest in the left lane of 59 North. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, multiple Polk County Sheriff's Deputies and DPS Troopers Ramey Bass, Sam Lattner, and Darwon Evans. Guajardo and her passengers were trapped in their vehicle. Emergency personnel were able to get the door open and carefully remove them from their totaled vehicle. Guajardo and all 4 of her passengers were transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with un-disclosed injuries via Americare Ambulance service. Adams was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by private vehicle. Both north-bound lanes of US-59 were blocked during investigation and cleanup and traffic re-routed through an adjoining parking lot. Both parties had insurance. Adams was issued a citation for failure to yield right-of-way from a private drive. Adams' vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker Service and it will be stored at Clifton Chevrolet in Corrigan, while Guajardo's vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from James Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan. The scene was cleared and traffic fully flowing by 9:55 pm.
