Accident Hospitalizes 2 Drivers, LAMONT, November 12, 2024 - At approximately 3:15 pm on November 12, 2024, the driver of a white 2018 Jeep Cherokee was sitting at a crossover point on US-59. She attempted to cross over the north-bound lanes and into the subdivision of Lakeside Village, but failed to yield to an oncoming a gray 2011 Toyota Tundra, driven by Lee Spencer, 55, of Apple Springs. The vehicles collided sending the Jeep into the center median while the Toyota pickup left the pavement to the right and into the grass. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, an officer from Livingston Police Department, Polk County Sheriff's Deputies, and Troopers Nick Hatton, Sean Barnes, and Simon Mijardes with the Texas Highway Patrol. The driver of the Jeep, Ava Hartsell, 18, of Livingston, exited her vehicle and laid down in the grass. Hartsell was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Lee Spencer was also taken to CHS Livingston as a precautionary measure. Hartsell is facing a citation for failure to yield right-of-way. One lane of traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Spencer's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored in Livingston while Hartsell's vehicle was recovered by LakeView and will also be stored in Livingston.

55 year old Lee Spencer, of Apple Springs, was driving this 2011 north-bound on 59 when Hartsell pulled in front of him.
Hartsell exited her vehicle and laid down in the center median. EMS personnel tend to Hartsell.
