Motorcycle Crash With Serious Injuries, Alcohol Suspected, SCENIC LOOP, November 12, 2011 - At approximately 4:05 pm on November 12, 2011, a blue 2000 Harley Davidson Sportster driven by Charles Anthony Riffe, 43, of Plantersville, was east-bound on FM-3277. Riffe entered a curve apparently going too fast and left the road to the right in the 4100 block of FM-3277. His bike jumped a culvert and he crashed a short distance further away and was ejected from his bike. He was not wearing a helmet. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Troy Binford with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers David Flowers and Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Riffe sustained serious head injuries and was treated at the scene and then transported to a landing zone by Blanchard Baptist Church where he was flown by PHi Helicopter to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Alcohol is suspected and Riffe could be facing a DWI charge. Additionally, Charles Riffe had a warrant out for his arrest and is facing additional charges of unsafe speed, driving while license suspended, no motorcycle driver's license, and no insurance. Riffe's motorcycle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 5:30 pm.
