1 Deceased, 2 Hospitalized in Major Accident, FOREST HILLS, November 10, 2019 - At approximately 8:40 am on November 10, 2019, Carl Reid, 65, of Trinity, and his son, Johnathan Reid, 35, of Paradise, Pennsylvania, were parked on the west-bound shoulder of US-190 West. Their truck, a black 1999 Ford F-350 was having problems and they popped the hood and were working on the truck. Their vehicle was suddenly slammed from behind by a white 2008 GMC 2500. The impact knocked their pickup into them killing Johnathan (the son) and injuring Carl Reid. The GMC was driven by Karl Fink, 22, of Onalaska. Fink stated that he fell asleep, causing him to drift onto the shoulder and ultimately impacting Reid's pickup. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department and Troopers Allen Stanton, Chris Cain, and Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Traffic on 190 West was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Justice of the Peace, Darrell Longino performed an inquest at the scene. Johnathan Reid was transported from the scene by a first call car from Cochran Funeral Home. Carl Reid and Karl Fink were both transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Both vehicles were recovered by George White & Sons Wrecker Service out of Onalaska. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

22 year old Karl Fink, of Onalaska was driving this 2008 GMC 2500 when he allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and drifted to the shoulder of 190 slamming into Reid's vehicle.

Both vehicles were recovered by George White & Sons Wrecker Service. White has been serving Polk County and surrounding area for over 40 years.
