49 year old Eric Wenke, of Pearland was driving over this bridge on Darden Road and slid off the tracks causing his 2011 Arctic Cat to turn over.
Man Flown Out from ATV Accident, SODA, November 10, 2015 - At around 9:30 am on November 10, 2015, a camouflage 2011 Arctic Cat ATV driven by Eric Wenke, 49, of Pearland, was north-bound on Darden Road.  As Wenke crossed a wooden bridge, his tires slid off the wooden tracks on the bridge causing his vehicle to turn sideways.  The vehicle slid onto the road and turned over on Wenke.  A crew from Longview Bridge came upon the scene and were able to pull the vehicle off of Wenke.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Terry Valka with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Wenke was loaded into an ambulance and transported to a landing zone where a medical helicopter landed and transported him to Conroe Regional Hospital with serious injuries.  Wenke's vehicle was driven from the scene by a friend.
