The second of 2 medical helicopters lands on US-146 and FM-943 on Friday afternoon.
3 Vehicle Accident, 2 Drivers Flown From Scene, SCHWAB CITY, November 5, 2021 - At approximately 2:10 pm on November 5, 2021, a logging truck, driven by John Groze, 23, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-146. Groze slowed down to make a left turn, behind Groze's vehicle was a gray 2015 Dodge Journey, driven by Linda Morris, 61, of Shepherd. Morris was also slowed down when she was slammed from behind by a blue 2018 Hyundai Kona, driven by Tina Gibson, 63, of Cold Spring. Gibson was allegedly messing with her cell phone and didn't have her full attention on her driving. The impact pushed Morris' vehicle into the back of the logging truck. Morris' vehicle continued off the pavement to the left. Gibson's vehicle came to rest on the pavement. Groze pulled to the left shoulder. Constable Pct. 1, Rosario, was the first first responder on the scene and was soon joined by Allegiance and Texan Ambulance Services, Livingston and South Polk County Volunteer Fire Departments, and Troopers Kevin Burman and Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the doors off Morris' and Gibson's vehicles in order to safely remove them from their vehicles. Both were flown from the scene by medical helicopter (Morris to Conroe Regional and Gibson to Hermann in the Woodlands). John Groze was physically okay. All traffic on 146 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Gibson is facing a citation for failure to control speed. Morris' vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Gibson's vehicle was recovered by Dan's Towing and will be stored in Livingston. The logging truck was driven from the scene.
