Bicyclist Struck by Pickup, PROVIDENCE, November 4, 2024 - At approximately 2 pm on November 4, 2024, a bicyclist was riding on US-146 on the south-bound side when he was struck by a red south-bound Dodge pickup next to R&D Grocery (146 at FM-1988 E). The bicyclist was knocked off his bicycle and was injured. According to witnesses, the pickup slowed down but the collision was unavoidable. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Trent Jones with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. The bicyclist is identified as Jarrad Pittman, 47, of Lafayette, Louisiana. Pittman was transported by ambulance to a landing zone in Livingston and flown. The driver of the Dodge pickup was Danny Moye, 77, of Livingston (Moye was physically okay). Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Moye's pickup was driven from the scene. Pittman is possibly facing a citation in this accident, but it remains under investigation and this time.
The 2008 Dodge pickup was driven by 77 year old Daniel Moye of Livingston.
