Postal Worker Flown to Houston from Accident, GOODRICH, November 1, 2014 - At approximately 3:25 pm on November 1, 2014, a postal truck was delivering mail off the south-bound side of US-59 a short distance north of Loop 393. The driver of the postal truck (Shelly Rena Wiggins, 28, of Cleveland) had just put some mail in a mailbox and as she pulled back onto 59 from the shoulder, she failed to yield to a south-bound 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup driven by Kerry Wayne Divin, 47, of Katy. The impact caused Wiggins' vehicle to spin around and roll backwards into the median. Wiggins was ejected from her postal truck. Divin pulled over to the shoulder of 59. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich Fire Department, Deputies Terri Mayer and Victor White with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Allen Stanton, Ashley McBride, and Kevin McKellar with the Texas Highway Patrol. Wiggins sustained major injuries and was flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston in serious condition. All traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation, and flight operations.
