29 year old Oralia Garcia, of Goodrich, slammed into the back of a vehicle transport 18 wheeler.
Car Hits 18 Wheeler, Small Child Flown to Houston, LIVINGSTON, November 1, 2013 - At approximately 6:45 am on November 1, 2013, a tan Chevy Impala driven by Oralia Reyes Garcia, 29, of Goodrich, was south-bound on US-59 just south of the Livingston City Limits. Garcia's apparently failed to notice an 18 wheeler that was in front of her and slammed into the semi from behind. Her vehicle slid sideways and came to rest in the right lane of the south-bound side of 59. The 18 wheeler, driven by Dayton Everitt, 35, of Louisiana pulled over to the shoulder on the same side of the pavement. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Officers Brandon Brewer, Kaleb Barker, and Tito Reyes (all with Livingston Police Department). Garcia was physically okay, however one of her passengers, her 6 year old daughter sustained life threatening injuries. The girl was transported by ambulance to Livingston Memorial Hospital where a Life Flight helicopter landed and transported the child to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Garcia was cited for no insurance, children not fastened in (times 2), no driver's license, and failure to control speed. Garcia's vehicle was recovered by Williams Wrecker Service and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
