18 Wheeler Stops for School Bus, Get Slammed From Behind by Car, LIVINGSTON, October 29, 2019 - At approximately 6:55 am on October 29, 2019, an 18 wheeler, driven by Jesus Antonio Resendez-Ramirez, of Mexico, was north-bound on US-59 just south of Beauty Shop Road. Ramirez stopped for a school bus that was loading children when he was slammed from behind by a gray 2016 Toyota Corolla, driven by Allison Lian Bynum-Stewart, 21, of Houston. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Austin McCracken with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Donny Akers, Chris Cain, and Zach Lenderman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Stewart managed to exit her vehicle and walk to a nearby mobile home where she was seeking help. Stewart was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Ramirez was physically okay. One lane of traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Stewart was cited for failure to control speed. Her vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.

Trooper Donny Akers cited Stewart for failure to control speed.
