As Lenderman came to FM-1988 he was coming too fast, blew the stop sign, continued across 1988, through a ditch and slammed into a utility pole. The impact snapped the pole about halfway up the pole. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Sergeant Adam Norris and Deputy Byron Dunaway with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department, and Troopers Colton McQuilkin and Ashlee White with the Texas Highway Patrol. Lenderman was physically okay, but his passenger (54 year old Rebecca Steele Skinner, of Scott, Louisiana) was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital, where she was loaded into a medical helicopter and flown to Conroe Regional Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Trooper Colton McQuilkin administered a field sobriety test and charged Lenderman with intoxication assault (due to Skinner's injuries).
