Driver Crashes and is Hospitalized Allegedly Reaching for His Cell Phone, ACE, October 25, 2013 - At around 3:35 pm on October 25, 2013, a green Ford Ranger driven by Michael Treadway, 58, of Ace, was south-bound on FM-2610.  According to Treadway, he was reaching for his cell phone when his vehicle veered to the left striking the rail on Menard Creek Bridge.  His vehicle swerved back left and struck the other side of the guard rail and slid to a stop.  South Polk County Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene along with Liberty County EMS, Americare Ambulance Service, deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Kevin Burman and Ray Sanders with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Treadway was pulled from his vehicle and was believed to have a broken leg.  He was transported to a Liberty County Hospital by Liberty County EMS.  Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup.  According to Trooper Kevin Burman, no citations have yet been issued as the accident remains under investigation.  Treadway's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and towed to Treadway's house.
