Multiple Roll over Accident: Driver Flown Out, Alcohol Suspected, SCENIC LOOP, October 20, 2011 - At Approximately 7:30 pm on October 20, 2011, a multiple roll over accident occurred on FM 3277 ejecting the driver. The driver was Clifton Lee Sirmons, 40, of Livingston. Sirmons was south bound on 3277 in a white 2008 Chevy Silverado near Bossy's Bar when his truck left the road to the left, jumped a culvert, continued rolling through the grass, and rolled multiple times ejecting Sirmons in the process. The truck came to rest upright facing the opposite direction of travel. According to two different witnesses, Sirmons was driving fast, recklessly and nearly hit another car before the accident occurred. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene, along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and DPS Trooper Joe Cole. All traffic on 3277 was blocked during investigation and clean up. Americare transported Sirmons to Blanchard Baptist Church with serious injuries where PHI Air Medical picked him up, and flew him to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Sirmons did have insurance. Drug paraphernalia and drug residue was pulled from the wreckage. A strong smell of alcohol was coming from the truck as well. Sirmons' vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. According to Trooper Cole, Clifton Sirmons is possibly facing the charge of driving while intoxicated, and could be facing drug related charges. The scene was cleared by 10 pm.
