Name Released from Fatal Crash On 146, SCHWAB CITY, October 19, 2024 - The name of the man who was killed in a rollover accident has been released. Sometime during the 2 am hour on October 19, 2024, a blue Chevy Blazer driven by Gary William Reed, 74, of Pasadena, was north-bound on US-146 when he left the pavement to the right, over corrected left, then lost control as his vehicle went into a slide and then rolled. Reed was ejected from the vehicle (not wearing seatbelt) and killed. It is not yet known why Reed left the pavement (possibly distracted while driving). This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Driver Rolls Vehicle, Ejected and Deceased, SCHWAB CITY, October 19, 2024 - Sometime during the night at around the 2 am hour, the driver of a navy blue old model Chevy Blazer was north-bound on US-146. For some reason, the driver left the pavement to the right slightly, then overcorrected left and started sliding sideways, causing his vehicle to roll. During the rollover, the driver (name not yet released) was ejected and killed as his vehicle came to rest upside down at the woodline just north of Sunny Drive (Forest Springs Subdivision). The accident was discovered by a passer by after it had happened. The passer by called 911. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, Sergeant Darren Brooks with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Damon Zarate and Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Justice of the Peace, Robert "Dooley" Johnson filed an inquest at the scene. The driver was transported from the scene by a first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home. The vehicle was recovered by LakeView Towing out of Livingston. PolkCountyToday.com will update this story when more information is made available.
