Driver Leaves Pavement, Slides Into Woodline, TEMPE CREEK, October 15, 2024 - Shortly before 10 pm on October 15, 2024, the driver of late model white Toyota SUV was north-bound on FM-1988 South. For some reason, the driver, David Alan Poe, 30, of Livingston, left the pavement to the right just as he was about to cross over Tempe Creek. Instead, he ended up on the other side of the guardrail in the weeds and continued until he slid into the woodline a short distance from the creek. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Darren Brooks with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Damon Zarate with the Texas Highway Patrol. Poe was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Poe's vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker out of Goodrich. Poe could be facing a citation as the accident is under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
