Driver Pulls Out of Parking Lot, Fails to Yield to Oncoming Vehicle, SCHWAB CITY, October 3, 2024 - At approximately 6:26 pm on October 3, 2024, a red 2016 Chevy Traverse, driven by Mira Edwards, 31, of Livingston, was north-bound on US-146 (just north of FM-943). As Edwards was passing Dollar General (on the north-bound side of 146), a red 2016 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Michael Christy, 69, of Livingston, pulled out of the parking lot of Dollar General (attempted to pull to the south-bound side of 146, but failed to yield to Edwards). Edwards' vehicle slammed the front driver's side corner of Christy's Jeep. The impact spun Christy's Jeep around to the shoulder facing south while Edwards' vehicle left the pavement to the right and came to rest in the weeds facing north. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the South Polk County and Livingston Fire Departments and Trooper Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Edwards and three minors that were with her were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries (as was Christy). Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Christy is facing a citation for failing to yield to Edwards. Both vehicles were recovered by LakeView Wrecker out of Livingston.
