Major Accident on West Church and Drew, LIVINGSTON, October 1, 2013 - Shortly after 11am on October 1, 2013, 23 year old Letha Comeau, of Rye, was east-bound on West Church Street in her black Nissan Frontier when she suddenly slammed into a black Lincoln Town Car driven by Candace Butts, 65, of Onalaska. Butts pulled in front of Comeau from Drew Street (failing to yield right-of-way from a stop sign). Comeau's vehicle slammed Butts' vehicle in the driver's side door. Both vehicles came to rest in the east-bound lanes of West Church. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit and Sergeant Ronnie Bogany with the Livingston Police Department. Additionally, Officer Scott Paske (also with LPD) was dispatched. Comeau was physically okay, however, Candace Butts was trapped. Her door wouldn't open after being slammed by the pickup. Volunteer Firemen used the jaws-of-life pry the door open. Butts was transported by Ambulance to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Sergeant Bogany cited Butts for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign. Traffic on West Church was partially blocked on the west-bound side and rerouted on the east-bound side. Both vehicles were recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Bounds Autoplex in Livingston.
