Representatives from TXDOT assisted DPS with traffic control at FM-943 and FM-1276.
Lunchtime 18 Wheeler Accident, BIG SANDY, October 1, 2012 - At around 12 noon on October 1, 2012, an 18 wheeler driven by Don Marcus Gilbert, 52, of Vidor, was northwest bound on FM-943.  Gilbert was apparently going too fast when he entered a curved where 943 intersects FM-1276.  Gilbert lost control of the tractor/trailer as it slid and turned over losing it's load of oil field pallots.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Donny Akers and Kevin Burman of the Texas Highway Patrol.  Gilbert was transported by ambulance to Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup.  According to Trooper Akers, Don Gilbert will be cited for unsafe speed.  Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan was summoned to clean up the mess.  At time of press, the cleanup continues.

Special thank you:  Ken with Ken's Towing

On September 25, 2008, there was a tanker rollover accident that killed the driver near this same spot on FM-943.

The trailer was transporting a load of oilfield pallots.
The cab was totaled. It's amazing that the driver walked away.
Mixi kept an eye on the scene from the PolkCountyToday.com Jeep.
