Driver Hospitalized After Rolling Pickup, SCENIC LOOP, September 29, 2017 - At approximately 3:25 pm on September 29, 2017, a black 1997 Ford F-150 (pulling a trailer), driven by Bobby Akins, 38, of Trinity, was east-bound on FM-3126. Akins is believed to have had a medical problem that caused him to lose control of his pickup. His pickup left the pavement to the right into a ditch. When the pickup struck the ditch embankment it caused the truck to roll. Akins' pickup came to rest upside down off 3126 at Tigerville Road. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Game Warden David Johnson, and Troopers Darwon Evans, Donny Akers, and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Akins had a male passenger who was able to crawl out of the wreckage unharmed. Akins was pinned down. Volunteer Firemen were able to safely unpin Akins from the wreckage. Akins was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on 3126 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Akins was cited for no driver's license. A rollback wrecker from Fawbush Wrecker Service recovered the pickup and trailer and they'll be stored in Goodrich.
