58 year old Alberto Castillo Martinez crashed his pickup through this sign at the garbage collection station located at US-146 and FM-2665. Martinez's pickup continued into the nearby woods.
Driver Crashes Truck, Passenger Hospitalized, SCHWAB CITY, September 17, 2017 - Shortly before 3 am on September 17, 2017, a red 2005 Chevy pickup, driven by Alberto Castillo Martinez, 58, of Schwab City, was east-bound on FM-2665. As Martinez came to 146, he ran the stop sign, crossed 146, crashed through a barbed wire fence, knocked a sign down, and continued into the woods where his pickup slammed into a tree. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies Kayla Hemperly and Ron Goertz with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Castillo's passenger, Samantha Mendoza was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Martinez was physically okay. Martinez was not intoxicated. He was cited for running the stop sign. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Martinez's vehicle and towed it to his house.
