Fatal Accident in North Polk County, CORRIGAN, September 13, 2010 - At approximately 11:53 am on September 13, 2010 a white 2001 Ford F-250 driven by Curtis Bernard Fields, 39, of Corrigan was east-bound FM-287 East when his truck left the road to the right, rolled down a slope and slammed head-on into a large pine tree. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene. Sadly, Curtis Fields died shortly after impact. Also dispatched to the scene was the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department, and Officer Dana Vanya with the Corrigan Police Department. Vanya was assisted by DPS Troopers Darwon Evans and Corporal Sam Lattner. Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 Larry Whitworth performed an inquest at the scene. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. A rollback wrecker from Riley Wrecker Service recovered Fields' vehicle and it will be stored in Corrigan. The scene was cleared by 1:30 pm.
