18 Year Old Onalaska Man Perishes in Accident, ONALASKA, September 12, 2023 - At approximately 2:59 pm on September 12, 2023, the driver of a gray 2008 Chevy Impala was north-bound on FM-3459 (just north of Delafosse Cemetery Road) when he entered a curve too fast, lost control as the vehicle left the pavement to the left.  The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its driver's side at the woodline.  During the rollover, the driver, James Wyatt Young, Jr., 18, of Onalaska was ejected from the vehicle and killed.  Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department, Onalaska Police Department, Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Nick Hatton, Johnny Wilkerson, Allen Stanton, and Sergeant Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Justice of the Peace, Terri Mayer filed an inquest at the scene.  A first-call car from Pace Funeral Home transported Young from the scene.  Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup.  Young's vehicle was recovered by George White & Sons Wrecker Service out of Onalaska.  This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
