Motorcycle Crash Proves Fatal, GOODRICH, September 11, 2025 - At approximately 4:45 pm on September 11, 2025, the Polk County Sheriff's Office was notified of a fatal motorcycle crash on FM-2969 (off FM-1988 West). Troopers Terrence Dickens and Cesar Davila with The Texas Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene and were assisted by Deputies from The Polk County Sheriff's Office. The driver of black Harley Davidson Motorcycle was north-bound on FM-2969 when he left the pavement to the right and went into a slide. The motorcycle then rolled and the driver, John Arole McCoy, 60, of Goodrich, was thrown and deceased on impact. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department. Justice of the Peace, Terri Mayer filed an inquest at the scene. A first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home transported McCoy from the scene. The motorcycle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker out of Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by The Texas Highway Patrol.
