Blown Tire Causes Accident on Trinity River Bridge, SAN JACINTO COUNTY, September 11, 2014 - At approximately 11:35 am on September 11, 2014, a gray 2003 Chevy Malibu driven by Loretta Lewis, 35, of Livingston, was north-bound on US-59 on the Trinity River Bridge (south of Goodrich a short distance south of the Polk County Line), when her car blew a tire. She lost control of her vehicle and collided with a white 2006 Ford F-150 driven by Darla Mclure, 34, of Point Blank (Mclure was traveling directly behind Lewis when Lewis' tire blew out). The collision caused Lewis' vehicle to spin around and come to rest in road while Mclure pulled over to the right side of the road. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Allegience Ambulance Service, the Shepherd Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies Glen Edwards and Dustin Lowerie with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Corporal Sean Barnes, Kevin Burman and Darwon Evans with the Texas Highway Patrol. Both Lewis and Mclure were transported by Ambluance to CHI Memorial Hospital in Livingston with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on the bridge was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Corporal Barnes, no citations were issued. Both vehicles were recovered by East Texas Towing.
