18 Wheelers Collide in North Polk County, CORRIGAN, September 9, 2010 - Shortly before 6 am on September 9, 2010, J. Ventura Sanchez, 39, of Willis, was south-bound on US-59 in his Green 1996 Kenworth 18 wheeler when he was slammed from behind by a white 1988 Ford Sterling tractor and double trailer driven by Fredrick Lee Tristan, 57, of Houston in the city limits of Corrigan. Both drivers were physically okay, but both rigs were damaged to the point of needing to be towed. Officer Chris Molandes with the Corrigan Police Department was dispatched to the scene to investigate the accident and was backed up by Officer Darrell Gibson and Corrigan Police Chief James Riley and Trooper Darwon Evans with the Texas Highway Patrol. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Sanchez's rig was recovered by Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan while Triston's rig was recovered by Milstead Towing out of Spring. Triston was cited for failure to control speed.
Officer Chris Molandes with Corrigan PD is the investigating Officer.
Both rigs had to be towed.
