Liz Ellis' 2008 Jeep Patriot lays on its driver's side on the west-bound side of FM-2610 near Taylor Lake Estates.
Sleepy Driver Turns Over SUV in South Polk County, ACE, September 5, 2012 - At approximately 1:20 pm on September 4, 2012, a white 2008 Jeep Patriot driven by Liz Ellis, 67, of Ace, was east-bound on FM-2610 when, according to Ellis, she dozed off. Ellis' vehicle left the road to the right, when she looked up, she was about to run into a road sign so she overcorrected to the left and left the road to the left side of the pavement. Ellis vehicle turned sideways and rolled, coming to rest on the driver's side. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the South Polk County Volunteer Fire Department, and Sergeant Nita Bowen with the Texas Higway Patrol. Ellis was removed from her vehicle and transported by Ambulance to Cleveland Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. No citations were issued. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Ellis' vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared in a little over an hour.
Special thank you: The South Polk County Volunteer Fire Department is ALWAYS very helpful. Their men are always polite, and carry out their duties with a sense of urgency and professionalism. They are as good as any firemen this reporter has ever been around.
