35 year old Eduardo N. Torres, of Livingston, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Driver Takes Out Mailbox and Culvert, Arrested for DWI, SCENIC LOOP, September 4, 2012 - At approximately 1:30 pm on September 4, 2012, a tan Pontiac Grand Am driven by Eduardo N. Torres, 35, of Livingston, was east-bound in the 800 block of FM-3277 when, according to Torres, he swerved to dodge some debris that was in the road. Torres' vehicle left the road to the left, took out a mailbox, struck a culvert (damaged the culvert), and came to rest in the grass to the left of the roadway. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Sam Lattner with the Texas Highway Patrol and Trooper Allen Stanton. Torres was not injured in the accident, but performed poorly on a field sobriety test. Further, Torres took a breathalyzer test. The breathalyzer test indicated that Torres was intoxicated. Corporal Lattner placed Torres under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. A rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker recovered Torres' vehicle and it will be stored in Livingston.
Torres' Pontiac Grand Am took out a mailbox and damaged a culvert.
Personnel from Americare Ambulance Service assisted Corporal Lattner with the Torres and provided Spanish/English interpretation.
