A south-bound U-Haul truck was clipped from behind by an 18 wheeler on US-59 just south of the Livingston City Limits.
18 Wheeler / U-Haul Accident, LIVINGSTON, September 1, 2015 - At approximately 5:45 am on September 1, 2015, a U-Haul truck was south-bound on US-59.  The driver, Riley Richardson, 41, of Houston, attempted a lane change but failed to yield to a south-bound 18 wheeler, hauling a load of large PVC pipes, and driven by Gordon Short, 57, of Booneville, Miss.  Short cut left to avoid hitting the U-Haul, but still clipped the rear driver's side bumper.  The collision sent both vehicles into the center median.  Short's 18 wheeler turned over on its driver's side.  The U-Haul remained upright.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Ramey Bass and Trooper Donny Akers (both with the Texas Highway Patrol).  Fortunately, nobody was injured.  One lane of traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup.  Riley Richardson was cited for changing lanes when unsafe.  A rollback wrecker from Fawbush Body Shop recovered the U-Haul and it will be stored in Goodrich.  A heavy duty wrecker from Clifton Chevrolet, out of Corrigan is recovering the 18 wheeler at time of press (7:30 am).
