Head On Collision Just North of City Limits, LIVINGSTON, August 26, 2020 - At approximately 2 pm on August 26, 2020, a white utility bucket truck, driven by Austin Odom, 24, of Mendenhall, Mississippi, was south-bound on US-59. Odom suddenly had a head on collision with a black 2017 Chevy 2500 pulling a travel trailer, driven by Christopher Collis, 25, of Jacksonville. Collis was traveling in the north-bound lanes of 59 when, according to him, his vehicle struck something in the road causing his travel trailer to start whipping, causing total loss of control. Collis' vehicle left the pavement to the left, drove through the center median and entered the south bound lanes where he slammed head on into Odom's vehicle. The impact caused Odom's vehicle to leave the pavement to the right and turn over. Collis' vehicle and trailer jack-knifed on the pavement. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol and a host of other local troopers and Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Amazingly, nobody was injured. Traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. No citations have been issued at this time as this accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol. Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan was summoned to clean up the mess.
