33 year old James Daniel Parkman, of Cleveland, allegedly fell asleep while driving and ended up in a ditch off FM-1988 South and FM-3278.
Sleepy Driver Crashes Into Ditch, SWARTWOUT, August 24, 2016 - At approximately 2:20 am on August 24, 2016, a black 2016 Kia Forte' driven by James Daniel Parkman, 33, of Cleveland, was north-bound on FM-3278 near FM-1988 South.  As Parkman was approaching the intersection of the two roads he allegedly fell asleep.  According to Parkman, when he opened his eyes, he was going into the intersection.  He cut his wheels right and went into a ditch.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Teddy "Precious" Sims and Sergeant Craig Taylor with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Darwon Evans with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Parkman was helped from his vehicle, and into an ambulance by Deputy Sims and Sergeant Taylor.  Parkman was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries.  No citations were issued.  A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Parkman's vehicle and it will be stored at Pollock's Body Shop in Livingston.
