Driver Falls Asleep, Crashes Medium Sized Car Transporter, SEVEN OAKS, August 24, 2015 - Shortly after 6 am on August 24, 2015, a medium sized car transporter (that was empty) driven by Amilcar Prado, 47, of Pharr, was north-bound on US-59.  Prado fell asleep at the wheel and left the pavement to the right, struck a culvert, rolled up an embankment, then slid back down and came to rest in a jackknife position in the grass.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Kevin Burman, Ashlee McBride, and Darwon Evans (all with the Texas Highway Patrol).  Prado was sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital.  Traffic on 59 was not blocked during investigation and cleanup.  Prado is facing a citation for no seatbelt.  A heavy-duty wrecker from Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan was summoned to clean up the mess.
