Truck Slams Into Building, Alcohol Suspected, GOODRICH, August 18, 2016 - At approximately 8:08 pm on August 17, 2016, a white 2007 Ford F-150, driven by Alexis Reyes Gomez, 21, of Goodrich, was south-bound on US-59 in Goodrich. Gomez's pickup left the road to the right, crashed through a sign, and continued (another approximate 50 yards) and slammed into a shell home building. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Nick Hatton and Donny Akers with the Texas Highway Patrol. Gomez smelled of alcohol and had an open container of alcoholic beverage in his pickup. Gomez was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated, open container, and for striking the building. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Gomez's vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
Trooper Donny Akers assisted in the accident investigation.
Trooper Nick Hatton placed 21 year old Alexis Gomez under arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Gomez crashed through this sign and contined through the grass and eventually slid sideways into the shell home.
The impact compromised the structural integrity of the building.
Gomez's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing.
