Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Dave Sottosanti with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Darwon Evans and Chris Nash with the Texas Highway Patrol. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to extract Jackson and his two passengers (18 year old Joanne Carr and 40 year old Raymond Kirk Dodson) from their vehicle. Jackson and Dodson were both flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston with serious injuries. Carr was transported by ambulance CHI Lufkin Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Jackson was cited for unsafe speed.
