Livingston Woman Hospitalized from Accident, GOODRICH, August 15, 2013 - At around 9 pm on August 14, 2013, a white 1997 Ford F-150 was north-bound on US-59 in Goodrich when the driver, Shawnie Denise Williams, 44, of Livingston, fell asleep at the wheel. Her pickup veered to the left and slammed head-on into a guardrail. Ameircare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich and Livingston Volunteer Fire Departments. Additionally, Deputies Adam Norris and Byron Dunaway were dispatched along with Trooper Darwon Evans with the Texas Highway Patrol. Shawnie Williams was pinned in her truck after the guardrail impaled her pickup through the floor pinning her leg. Firemen used the jaws-of-life to cut her out of the truck. Williams was pulled out through the passenger's side onto a gurney. She was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Williams' vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.

Williams was pinned inside the truck as firemen tried to figure out how to free her.

Once Williams' leg was freed, she was pulled through the passenger's side door, loaded onto a gurney and driven to Livingston Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

What a Mess: The railing was still attached to its posts. Firemen used a saw with a metal cutting blade to cut the contorted railing into pieces in order to clear it off the road.
