Glad that nobody was hurt: (L - R) Deputy Jacob Hopper, Trooper Barett Duren, David Stutes of Gary.
Driver Slides Out of Control With Whipping Trailer, LIVINGSTON, August 13, 2015 - At approximately 10:40 am on August 13, 2015, a red 1992 Chevy 1500 driven by David Stutes of Gary was north-bound on US-59 just south of the Livingston City Limits. Stutes was pulling a trailer with a Dodge Dakota loaded onto the trailer. According to Stutes, he was on his way from Cleveland to Gary where he was moving. As he came down a slight hill, his load began to whip. Stutes said he tried to down shift but things only got worse. He said that he didn't want to speed up to try to pull out of the situation. The whole thing spun completely out of control as he slid off the pavement to the right and into a ditch. Stutes wasn't injured from the incident. Deputy Jacob Hopper was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Barett Duren and Chad Seamans. The mess was cleaned up by LakeView Wrecker Service.
The Dodge Dakota (truck at left) was strapped down and stayed on the trailer...
...safety chains kept the trailer connected to the pickup.
David Stutes explains what happened to Troopers Barett Duren (left) and Chad Seamans.
