Accident Hospitalizes 2, LIVINGSTON, August 10, 2020 - At approximately 9 am on August 10, 2020, a red 2009 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by Johnnie Loftin, 80, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-146. Loftin was suddenly struck by a north-bound silver 2007 Toyota Corolla, driven by Jaelithe Schiele, 42, of Livingston. Schiele was north-bound and was apparently distracted when she crossed the center line and grazed Loftin's vehicle. The impact caused Loftin to lose control. His vehicle left the pavement to the right and turned over on its driver's side. Schiele's vehicle came to rest in the north-bound lanes of traffic. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Colton McQuilkin, Kevin Burman, and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol (they were assisted by Officers from Livingston Police Department). Schiele was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. Loftin was also transported to CHI (by private vehicle), both with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on 146 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Schiele was cited for failure to control speed. Loftin's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Schiele's vehicle was moved off the road by her husband and will be recovered by friends/family.
