46 year old Christopher Mason, of Mt. Pleasant, was driving this 2019 Volvo SUV when he fell asleep at the wheel.

Driver Falls Asleep, Crashes Into Creek, LIVINGSTON, August 9, 2020 - At approximately 12:15 pm,  on August 9, 2020, a silver 2019 Volvo SUV, driven by Christopher Mason, 46, of Mt. Pleasant, was north-bound on US-59. Mason allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and left the pavement to the right (just north of Beauty Shop Road) and went into a creek. His vehicle jumped the creek and crashed into the embankment on the other side of the creek, then rolled right and came to rest upside down another ten feet further up the creek (further east). Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers John Allen and Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. Mason was transported by ambulance to Hermann Hospital in Houston with serious injuries. No citations were issued. Mason's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.

Special thank you: Joel Cassiday

Mason left the pavement to the right (just missing the guardrail) and continued down into a creek.
Mason's vehicle jumped the creek, struck the embankment on the opposite side, then rolled right (coming to rest upside down).
Standing on the pavement looking down creek, Mason's vehicle is barely visible.
