50 year old David Sledge, of Livingston, rolled this 2001 Mazda B-2300 on McCarthy Road (off Galloway near 146 S).
Driver Flown to Houston, Facing DWI Charges After Rollover, LIVINGSTON, August 9, 2015 - At 11:45 am on August 9, 2015, a tan 2001 Mazda B2300 driven by David Sledge, 50, of Livingston, was east-bound on McCarthy Road. Sledge entered a curve too fast on the unpaved road and left the road to the right. His small pickup slammed into a large pine tree and turned over, coming to rest upside down. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Rey Davalos with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Zach Lenderman and Chris Cain with the Texas Highway Patrol. Sledge sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to a landing zone at FM-1988 and US-146. Sledge was loaded into a PHi Air Medical Helicopter and flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Sledge allegedly admitted to have drinking prior to the accident. There was a strong smell of alcohol coming from Sledge. David Sledge is facing the charge of driving while intoxicated. His vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Body Shop and will be stored in Goodrich.
