Driver Rolls SUV in South Leggett, LEGGETT, August 5, 2009 - At approximately 4:55 pm on August 5, 2009 a sliver 2004 Honda CRV driven by Swati Shamara Kumar, 35, of Lufkin was north-bound on US-59 in south-Leggett when her vehicle left the road to the left entered the grassy median and rolled one time coming to rest on its side. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Polk County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Nettles and DPS Trooper Chris Stanbery. Other than a cut on her right hand, Kumar was okay and refused medical treatment. One lane of traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. It is believed that loose gravel is responsible for causing the accident, there is however multiple signs warning of loose gravel and no center stripe in the area where Kumar rolled her vehicle. Citation(s) could be pending following the complete investigation. Kumara did have insurance. Kumara's vehicle was recovered by a rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 5:40 pm.
