Trooper Kevin Burman tries to talk with 23 year old Devante Lanier Williams, of Corrigan.
Driver Wrecks Vehicle, Intoxication Suspected, CORRIGAN, August 2, 2018 - At approximately 9:45 pm on August 2, 2018, a blue 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by Devante Lanier Williams, 23, of Corrigan, was south-bound on US-59 less than a mile south of the Corrigan City Limits when his vehicle left the pavement to the right and drove into a culvert where his front end got wedged and stuck.  Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Williams appeared to be highly intoxicated and barely responsive when spoken to by emergency personnel.  Eventually, Trooper Burman convinced Williams to step out of his vehicle.  He was helped into an ambulance.  Williams was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital to be checked out.  It is not known why Williams' vehicle left the pavement, but he did appear intoxicated.  Williams may be facing the charge of driving while intoxicated.  His vehicle was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan.
