The driver, Anthony Davis, 28, of Porter was south-bound on US-59 in a white 2016 Range Rover when his vehicle struck a pedestrian that appeared to be crossing the road from the south-bound side of 59. According to Davis, it happened so fast, that he didn't know what he hit. Davis pulled to the right shoulder of the south-bound side of 59. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Livingston Fire Chief, Corky Cochran, and Trooper Donny Akers with the Texas Highway Patrol. Akers was assisted by Sergeant Sam Lattner (also Highway Patrol), and Deputy Cedric McDuffy with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The men searched the vicinity and located the victim (name being withheld pending notification of relatives). The victim was found in the crossover section between the north-bound and south-bound sides of 59.  The victim was killed on impact. Justice of the Peace, Robert "Dooley" Johnson performed an inquest at the scene. A first call car from Cochran Funeral Home transported the victim from the scene. Anthony Davis was physically okay.
