Fatal Accident Near Angelina County, CORRIGAN, July 25, 2014 - At approximately 5:20 pm on July 25, 2014, a Chevy Tahoe driven by Rashel Armstrong, 28, of Corrigan, was north-bound on US-59 when she apparently became distracted and lost control of her vehicle.  Armstrong over corrected and left the pavement to the right causing the vehicle to roll multiple times.  The vehicle came to rest upside down in the grass.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, officers from the Corrigan Police Department, the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department and Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol.  Armstrong and one of her children were flown by helicopter from the scene with serious injuries.  Armstrong's husband, David, died at the scene from injuries.  Justice of the Peace, Darrell Longino performed an inquest at the scene and ordered an autopsy.  Two of Armstrong's children were transported by ambulance to a hospital in Lufkin with non-life-threatening injuries.  Traffic in the north-bound lanes of 59 were partially blocked during investigation and cleanup.  Armstrong's vehicle was recovered by Riley Wrecker Service and will be stored in Corrigan.
