Intoxicated Driver Makes Unsafe Turn and Gets Broadsided, GOODRICH, July 25, 2011 - At approximately midnight on July 25, 2011, Lawrence Gonzales, 40, of Sarpeta, Louisiana, was north-bound on US-59 in the area of Goodrich in his gray 2005 Ford F-350. Gonzales was pulling a travel trailer when a north-bound silver 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Juan Cisneros, 27, of Henderson, suddenly made a hard left and cut directly in front of Gonzales. Gonzales applied his brakes and attempted to miss Cisneros but still broadsided Cisneros. The collision occurred on 59 at Wyndham Ranch Road. Deputies Craig Taylor and Darren Crow were dispatched to the scene along with Trooper David Flowers with the Texas Highway Patrol. The two Deputies suspected that Cisneros (and his two passengers) were intoxicated. There was a strong smell of alcohol coming from their vehicle and they had the appearance of being intoxicated. Trooper Flowers administered a field sobriety test on Cisneros and placed Cisneros under arrest and charged him with driving while intoxicated. Cisneros' two passengers were both placed under arrest and cited for public intoxication. Nobody appeared to be physically hurt in the accident. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Cisneros' vehicle and it will be stored at Pollock's Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared shortly before 2 am.
The car had to be towed for 2 reasons: The driver was intoxicated, and the car wasn't driveable due to the damage sustained in the accident.
