Pedestrian Struck and Killed, CORRIGAN, July 24, 2023 - At approximately 9:47 pm on July 23, 2023, a pedestrian was crossing Business 59 in Corrigan and was struck by an 18 wheeler. Christopher Sweat, 55, of Corrigan, attempted to walk across Business 59 in the 200 block (South Home Street, aka Business 59) and was struck by an oncoming north-bound 18 wheeler. Sweat was deceased on impact. Officer Tyler Copeland, with the Corrigan Police Department was dispatched to investigate. Additionally, Corrigan Police Chief, Darrell Gibson arrived to assist. The 18 wheeler was driven by 31 year old Juan Benavides. Justice of the Peace, Sarah Rasberry performed an inquest at the scene. This accident remains under investigation by the Corrigan Police Department.
