Big Thicket Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Goodrich, GOODRICH, July 17, 2021 - At approximately 1:30 am on July 17, 2021, a call was placed to the Polk County Sheriff's Office in reference to a motorcycle crash. The caller drove upon the wreck which had happened a short time before. A Harley Davidson three wheel motorcycle, driven by Daniel Robert Garmong, 59, of Big Thicket was east-bound on River Lakes Road and attempted a left turn onto FM-2969 and went into the turn too fast. Garmong lost control of his motorcycle and left the pavement to the right and rolled. Garmong was ejected and was found deceased about 100 feet further north from his trike. He was not wearing a helmet. Troopers Allen Stanton and Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol were dispatched to investigate. They were assisted by Sergeant John Carter with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Justice of the Peace, Darrell Longino performed an inquest. A first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home transported Garmong from the scene to the Jefferson County Medical Examiners Office. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
