Driver Slams Into Tree, Flown Out, LIVINGSTON, July 13, 2020 - At approximately 1:45 am on July 13, 2020, a navy blue 2008 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Bruce Linn, 47, of Spring, was north-bound on US-59 just north of the Livingston City Limits. For some reason, Linn's vehicle left the pavement to the right, struck the guardrail and continued down the road on the shoulder. After he passed the guardrail, his vehicle left the pavement to the right, continued down an embankment and slammed head on into a large tree. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Colton McQuilkin with the Texas Highway Patrol. Linn was pinned inside his vehicle. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut the door off of Linn's vehicle and eventually remove him from his vehicle. PHi Air Medical landed a helicopter on 59. Linn was flown to Conroe Regional Hospital with undisclosed but major injuries. All traffic on the north-bound side of 59 was blocked during investigation, flight operations, and cleanup. Evidence at the scene suggests that Linn never applied his brakes. Linn's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.
