79 year old Charles Minshew of Livingston rear ended a Precinct 4 road maintenance truck on 190 East at Tom Cummings Road.
Driver Rear Ends County Vehicle, SODA, July 11, 2013 - At around 2:55 pm on July 11, 2013, county worker, Mackey Gibson, 31, of Livingston was east-bound on US-190 East. Gibson slowed down at Tom Cummings Road to make a left turn and was rear-ended by a tan 1992 Ford Ranger driven by Charles Minshew, 79, of Livingston. The collision totaled Minshew's vehicle. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Sergeant Jason Paske with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Allen Stanton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Minshew and Gibson escaped injury, but Minshew's wife was transported by Ambulance to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic on both sides of 190 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Trooper Stanton, Minshew was cited for failure to control speed. A rollback wrecker from Harwood Wrecker Service recovered Minshew's vehicle and it will be stored in Livingston. Gibson's vehicle (a Polk County Pct. 4 road maintenance vehicle) was driven from the scene.
Minshew's 1992 Ford Ranger was totaled.
Minshew's wife was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital by ambulance with undisclosed injuries.
Sergeant Jason Paske with the Polk County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
