Pickup Slams SUV From Behind on 190 East, LIVINGSTON, July 8, 2011 - At approximately 3:30 pm on July 8, 2011, a tan 2003 Chevy Silverado driven by Nicolas Abdallah, 19, of Livingston, was east-bound on US-190 East. Abdallah attempted to pass a pickup truck pulling a trailer and ran out of room as he slammed into the back of an east-bound white 2001 GMC Yukon driven by Laurie Ferguson, 35, of Livingston. Ferguson was stopped on 190 waiting to make a left turn on to Hornet Nest Road. The collision spun Ferguson's vehicle around facing her opposite direction. Abdallah's vehicle came to rest in the right lane on the east-bound side. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Troopers Kevin Burman and Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Laurie Ferguson was transported by ambulance to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Abdallah was transported to Livingston Memorial where he was life flighted to Hermann Hospital in Houston. All traffic on 190 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Trooper Burman, Abdallah will receive citations for failure to control speed and no seatbelt. Both parties had insurance. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered both vehicles and stored Ferguson's vehicle at Polock's Body Shop in Livingston, while Abdallah's vehicle was stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 4:25 pm.
