FM-3277, Friday afternoon, (07/05/19)
Fatal Accident as Pickup Strikes Tree, SCENIC LOOP, July 5, 2019 - Shortly before 4 pm on July 5, 2019, a white 2006 Nissan Frontier, driven by Cory Gene New, 42, of Livingston, was west-bound on FM-3277 (Scenic Loop) when his pickup left the pavement to the right and slammed into a tree (just past Shelter Cove). The impact spun his vehicle around as it came to rest facing east. Deputy Rey Davalos was the first emergency person on the scene. Allegiance Ambulance Service arrived and transported New to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital where he passed away shortly after arrival. Justice of the Peace Robert "Dooly" Johnson performed and inquest.  Troopers Allen Stanton, Colton McQuilkin, Ashlee White, Kevin Burman, Donny Akers, Zach Lenderman and Sergeant Sam Lattner were dispatched to investigate the accident. It is not yet known why New's vehicle left the pavement.  The accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol. New's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.

State Troopers were all over the scene of 42 year old Cory New's 2006 Nissan Frontier.
Tire tracks lead through the weeds to the site where New's pickup struck a tree (just west of Shelter Cove).
New's vehicle impacted this tree and spun around as his pickup came to rest facing east.
The impact of the tree was pressed deep into New's pickup.
New's driver's side airbag deployed.
New's vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing.
